In an earlier post we have discussed on how to disable “WordPress site down for maintenance notification”. However, this post also follows the same solution, but with different errors. Don’t surprise, the present error is a child error of a previous post. Yes, this happens when any of the WordPress component (Theme, Plugin, Core files) returns with failed update process notification or continuously showing WordPress’s default site maintenance notification.

WordPress admin panel continuously displays the “an automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” error on the top of every admin page.

WordPress update failed
An automated WordPress update failed notification.

To solve this issue just follow the below steps,

  1. Find out the file .maintenance file in the same directory where WordPress is installed.
  2. Now delete that file.
  3. Done..!
Maintance-file-delete
FileZilla (FTP) view

That’s all. Renavigate toward Admin panel. Now you will no longer view the “WordPress update failed” notification.
